For day 2 – throwback of #thevintagefashionchallenge I started with way back in the beautiful 80s. Remember when I said I always wanted to be a little extra? I HAD to wear the ribbon covered Venetian mask with my gypsy costume covered in sequins 🤣
Fast forward a bit to high school and I took every chance to got to dress up a little more than everyone else. On the left was my 70s disco queen outfit for our #studio54 dance. And on the right was my grandmother’s dress I wore to my friend @ellipsessam Dynasty birthday party. That hat honestly was my life at the time.
For the last page, I wanted to make sure each of my proms were 100000%. With my now husband (my god we look like babies), on the left was an 1870s Victorian bustle gown I made. And on the right was an antique 1920s allover beaded flapper dress. I did my best at the time to restore all of the shredding all over the dress and it sparkled like crazy.
From there on I went to study fashion design in college and took summers to learn history of costume at the Chicago History Museum in their costume internships. I started dressing more full time vintage after college amd sometimes I do wish I had started earlier for those MUCH BETTER prices 😤
But I love all of those early memories and pieces and cherish all these crazy memories ❤❤❤ #highschool #newtrierhighschool #newtrier #vintage #vintagedress #1870s #1980s #2000s #disco #dynasty #1920s #vintagehat #imalittleextra #halloween #halloweencostume #gypsy #bustlegown #bustle #prom #1920sdress #vintagestyle #vintageliving #vintagelife
